Voila it's your Birthday!

Yesterday I received my Koh-I-Noor pencils from Gina K so I had to play today :) It's my first time using Odorless Mineral Spirits and blending stumps as well, so it was a lesson learning day for me! I found that you press lightly with the pencil and they will blend better. But overall, I enjoyed these new tools and plan to make good use of them!

I haven't used my Voila chef for a while and I'm thrilled that he's staying around for another catalog!!! I still plan to get the additional stamps that SU sells so that I have more to put on his tray!

I was actually wearing a shirt this shade of purple today, so I guess that's where the color idea came into play. I also pulled out my Cuttlebug with the Tapestry background, I thought it reminded me of a restaurant's wallpaper :) The floor is pencils that I blended to soften the lines.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: Voila
Cardstock: Orchid Opulence, Perfect Plum, Pink Passion, Whisper White
Accessories: Light Orchid Grosgrain, Silver HP, Corner Rounder

Mini Clipboards

Once again, I've tapped into my cabinet for projects to make. I purchased these clipboards at a 100Yen store in Japan, probably a year or two ago and they've just been waiting to be decorated!! They are chipboard and tiny :) I had made plenty of the regular sized clipboards in the past, so it was a whole other story to work on the tiny area.

I wasn't sure where I was going with it, but then the more I played, the more they spoke to me :) I figure that they can be adorned with either a picture, poem etc.

I even dug out my Rub-Ons and used those to add sentiments at the bottom.

Each clipboard has a ribbon covered clip, I always find it fun to go through my ribbon stash to see what colors will match up. I love ribbon!!!

And another thing I rarely use are my buttons...and I have all that SU offers, so I really need to dig them out more often. I placed one in each corner after tying a thread through.

Materials: Pink (Loves Me-DP), Close to Cocoa & Whisper White Cardstocks, Regal Rose, White, Pink Gingham, Light Pink Grosgrain Ribbons. Soft Subtles Brads, SS Buttons.

Blue (Pool Party-DP), Brocade Blue/Night of Navy Cardstocks, Rich Regal Buttons/Brads, Navy, White, Bluebird, Bashful Blue Grosgrain Ribbons.

Cranberry (Recollections-DP), Cranberry Crisp & True Thyme Cardstocks, Fresh Favorite Buttons and Vintage Brads, Cranberry & Thyme Ribbon & Theater Originals.

Do Not Disturb

My brother and his wife just celebrated their 7th anniversary. I can't believe it was 7 years ago already. Now, a home and two beautiful kids later....they are still a perfect couple! And I'm sure they are lacking of time alone...so "Do Not Disturb"!!!

This card is made with SU's Happy Camper & Wheel, which is now on the Retired list and I will miss it dearly! I just think this is such a cute set!! I won't be parting with it, that's for sure!

I used Bordering Blue, Not Quite Navy & So Saffron for my main cardstock. The pieces are stamped in Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Going Grey and Chocolate Chip...I also used markers, they are all cut out and many on dimensionals.

They sky is from Shore Thing and a 'bird' stamp I acquired.

My little girl.....not so little anymore

My bundle, at least that's what I used to call her, isn't a little bundle anymore. Today my bundle is 13!!! I don't think I'm old enough to have a teenager. And I don't think my nerves can handle what's to come....yikes! I'm so thrilled that she's mine. I couldn't have asked for a better gift from God then the young lady I see before me now. She's been such a treasure to me, such a blessing. She's funny, beautiful, talented and smart. She's the whole she-bang!!

~~~~~~~~~
Here she is on her first birthday....oh how we laughed!!
Nothing like the first taste of chocolate!!!
It's what defines a GIRL!
~~~~~~~~~~~

This is birthday number TWO..or just before, in my Dad's apple tree!
Beautiful setting for a beautiful girl!

~~~~~~~~~~~
And here she is with my parents around her Third birthday,
the apple of their eye!
She just adores her Papa and Grandma!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And now before me is this young lady....where does the time go???

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can't forget to show you the card I made. Her favorite movie, especially this year with the Thirteen mark and all....is 13 Going on 30, so even though it's not a usual Stampin' UP! kind of card, I just had to do something like this. I hope she likes it!!
SU products used: Petals Wheel on the background, Chunky Pink Glitter, Tempting Turquoise, Orchid Opulence & Pink Passion cardstock.
Non-SU: Ultralash thread, flower embellishments, photos.
Wild Mustang
Feeling a bit western today, it's been so hot! Makes me think of the wild horses in the old west, running free and kicking up the dust. Someone cue the tumbleweed :)
I've seen so many great cards on SCS using this set. I loved the faded out horse idea so I had to use it. The Western Sky DP is really great! Love the colors, it's about time I tore into my package!
The Scallop punch is perfect for the medallion of this set. And it screamed for the Antique Brass HP and Jumbo Eyelets. That old western aged look. I also frayed the edges of the twill.
Sets used: Wanted & Bronco Buster
Paper: Western Sky DP, Chocolate Chip, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, River Rock
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Other: Jumbo Eyelets, Vintage Brad, Scallop Punch, Chocolate Chip Twill, 3/4" Circle Punch, Corner Punch and Cutter Kit
Technique: Piercing, Distressing, Sponging
Baby Pram
More time in my Paper Crafts magazines, lol. This idea came from the March 08 edition. Baby Prams. Remember those? You don't see them around very often anymore, not with everyone using the cheapy umbrella strollers. They are so fancy and pretty!!
Since we don't know yet what we are having, I decided to go with the green/yellow theme.
I used the Le Jardin DP along with Mellow Moss and Very Vanilla. The 'hood' is stamped with the leaves from Carte Postale. I used the Fresh Favorite buttons, I never use buttons, but they seem to fit with this card.
Fussy Cuts
I was going through some old Paper Crafts magazines and saw a technique, from Feb '08, that I thought I would give a try. Basically you take your designer paper and cut! I used the Brocade Background DP because I love the swirls. It's a pretty simple card, but I didn't want to overdue it since the DP really adds so much.
I stamped the Baroque Motifs in River Rock on the Old Olive, used my Antique Brass HP around 'Kind' and even took out my Ribbon Originals (Theater) which I tend to hoard. There are a couple of Ice Rhinestones on the DP. There is a layer of River Rock under the DP for depth.
It was fun, but time consuming. Getting all those angles...I certainly wouldn't sit down to make many of these, but one special one is a whole different story.
