Composition Time!

What a great week we've had, I sure hope you all enjoyed yours! The weather has been great, my belly is growing more each day and I've started to wear a few pieces of maternity wear ;).

Last night we even got to go to a concert on the beach! They have the Patriotic Festival here each year and last night was Sugarland and tomorrow is Travis Tritt! We had so much fun last night, and if the rain holds we'll have fun again tomorrow!!! I love concerts.

I have a cabinet full of things waiting for me to transform them. This week I decided to tackle the remaining composition books I had on hand. So, I made three journals with matching beaded pens. I like it when I can put some of my retired designer paper to good use ;).

I used Au Chocolate, Petals & Paisleys and Dots & Dashes. I also pulled out my chipboard for the accents in the lower right corners and of course ribbon!!! I love ribbon. And the final touch is the matching beaded pens!!!

I hadn't made any of these since my days of craft fairs in Okinawa, over a year ago!! They used to sell like hotcakes! My daughter even had one of her beaded pens at school the other day and the kids were all ooohhhhing and aaaahhhhing over her pen. That makes the creator feel good :)

So Grateful

With this being Memorial Day weekend, I wanted to make a card to show how grateful I am to my husband and all those that serve, have served and will serve. This is truly a time to remember those that gave their all for our freedom.

My dad was on the submarines and my father-in-law was also in the navy. There are various family members through the years that have served as well...with the most recent being my nephew who will be leaving for the Marines after he graduates highschool next month.

Anyway, I searched all over for a sailor stamp. You can find lots of soldier stamps, especially now with the war, but sailors are -for some reason- hard to find. I was thrilled when I cam upon this one.

Stamps used: Saluting Sailor (Posh Impressions), Anchor (PSX), Shore Thing (SU), Cute Converse (SU) Clear Stamps (Studio G)
Paper: Basic Gray, Night of Navy, Bordering Blue & Confetti White-all SU
Accessories: Navy EP, Real Red Grosgrain, Styled Silver HodgePodge, Notch Corner Punch & Distressed Stripes CB folder.

Singing In The Rain

We just got home from such a fun evening! We went to the Chesapeake Jubilee here in Virginia. I guess it was like the 24th year and what fun they put on. Rides, food and a show! $1 admission and we got to see country singers Julie Roberts and Phil Vassar!!

While Julie was on it was sunny and beautiful. As Phil was getting ready to come on the sky took a turn and not for the better. He was to perform from 5:30-7:30 and we only got an hour, but we had a fun hour!!!

I sang along to all his songs and they even threw in some 80s songs, which always has me going!! I'm a girl of the 80s, what can I say. As the sky turned darker and the rain was on the horizon, he kept singing for his native Virginians! Ok, even for those transplanted her for a while :)

A few sprinkles and the scared took off, but those strong enough to withstand a few drops stayed until the end. As the heavy rain started coming down he finished with "Another Day In Paradise" and we laughed the whole time, he laughed at us too.....seeing all of us in the pouring rain just to hear him, I'm sure we made him proud :)

Anyway a couple shots from today. First our "Country Piano Man", on top of his piano!!! Boy can he play!

And then one from the screen that they had off to the side:

Thanks for the fun Phil!! We enjoyed ourselves, even wet! But, I'm glad to be in dry clothes now :)

Catching Up

Hello all, I haven't forgotten about you :) I've been very busy. Mom was here to visit and we were checking out the sights around the area...like the Cape Henry Lighthouse on the previous post.

Anyway, here is the Mother's Day card that I made both my mom and my mother-in-law this year. I was searching SCS for something different and I'm always excited to use my CuttleBug...well, they have a new idea where you add ink directly to your folder (on the negative side) and then emboss and voila...my Whisper White now has Apricot Appeal everywhere except where the flowers are! How cool is that?? I got the idea for the card design from a few on SCS as well. The designer paper is from the hostess prints pack and the stamp set is SUs Time Well Spent.

Also, my sister-in-law had a birthday, she's one year away from the big 3-0!! I told her to enjoy this last year in her 20s!! They go by all too quickly. This is the card I made for her. I really like Sassy Susie, in case you all haven't found that out yet, lol. I used my silver hodgepodge, and I'm loving that too!! Especially since I can use my designer punch with it!!! The designer paper is from SUs Porcelain Prints.

Cape Henry~Fort Story, VA

We went to visit the Old Cape Henry lighthouse today. It's located on Fort Story Army base in Virgina Beach, VA. How beautiful the day was! The old lighthouse is open for the public to climb to the top and see the sights. The new lighthouse is just across the way and still active. With the heat of the day, I was too dizzy to climb and after seeing the spiral staircase to the top, I knew I wouldn't make it to the top. Almost 3 months pregnant, I wasn't going to take the chance :)

Old Cape Henry was actually the first lighthouse approved by the first US congress! It was exciting to be standing next to a piece of history.

This is the New Cape Henry lighthouse.

After we went down to the beach, which is just beyond the new lighthouse. It was so beautiful. The beach was so quiet. Just a couple guys fishing off the shore, a couple sunbathers and some sand walkers :) These are actual pictures, taken today...not postcards, lol. I meant to take more from the beach side but forgot. So, all I have is the very close pic of the Old Cape Henry.

Moonlight Cowboy

Y-E-E-H-A-W..... I love that song by Jake Owen, always makes me laugh!

I've been wanting these sets since they came out and I finally indulged myself. With hubby being from Texas, I figure that I'll get some good use out of them :) They are from Stampin' UP!'s Style Watch BoHo West line. The colors and sets all coordinate so well. I used the Designer Paper from the last catalog, but I also have the new one and plan to use that soon.

He rode into the sunset this evening, now the moon is glowing behind him. I feel like I was watching an old western as I was making this card.

I love our new Jumbo eyelets! They remind me of something that might be used in a barn. And I used the new Chocolate Chip Twill from the current mini. It's not shiny like the grosgrain so it's a better match for the distressed cowboy card. I even dug out my Stipple Brushes for the shading around the cowboy.

Sets: Bronc Buster and Wanted
Papers: Outlaw DP, Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip & Really Rust
Accessories: Dk Brown EP, Jumbo Eyelets, Twine, Twill, Vintage Brads, Scallop & Ticket Punches.
